Compress PDF

Free online PDF compressor. Re-pack object streams and strip metadata to shrink file size. Browser-based, no upload.

What is Compress PDF?

nutoolz Compress PDF re-packs the PDF object stream using pdf-lib's optimized save mode and strips embedded metadata (title, author, producer, creator, keywords). The result is a smaller file with the same visible content. Deeper compression via image re-encoding is on the roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends. PDFs already optimized by Adobe or modern exporters may not shrink at all — the tool honestly reports “same size or larger” in those cases. PDFs from Word, scan apps, or older tools typically shrink 10-30% from object-stream re-packing alone.

Will it reduce image quality?

No. This version only re-packs the file structure and removes metadata. Embedded images are untouched. Image re-encoding (which can give 50-80% reduction) is a future feature.

Does this remove my personal info?

Yes. The Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Producer, and Creator metadata fields are cleared. Note: this does not remove content inside the pages themselves — only the document metadata.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser.
